The Winchester Model 1873 Competition Carbine High Grade combines the classic lever-action design with performance upgrades intended for Cowboy Action Shooting. Its action is tuned with a shorter, smoother lever stroke for faster cycling, while the 20-inch round barrel and full-length tubular magazine preserve the traditional carbine configuration. The rifle features a Grade III/IV oil-finished walnut stock, color case-hardened receiver and hardware, a polished blued barrel, and a color case-hardened carbine buttplate. The top tang is drilled and tapped for an optional peep sight.
